As a lead up to the show next Friday, drama club is highlighting our cast and crew.
I’m Alana Tapley, better known as ceviche/tadpole (thank you, Brooke). I've been in drama club all four years.
Freshman year, I played a cop in the play Lamb to the Slaughter.
Sophomore year, I played various roles such as dragon, Hannah, Xavia Jones, and Sal in the play Puffs.
Junior year, I worked backstage as the stage manager in Almost, Maine.
For my final year in this great program, I play a dinosaur in 12 Incompetent Jurors.
I am so sad to leave these people and this program, but I’m so happy I've spent the last four years with these people. I have made life-long friends and memories that have made me the person I am today. I want to use this as a final good bye, and thank you to Mr. Koester and Monique for making this program the best it has been in years.

Students from AGS participated in the Elementary Music Festival put on by District 5 Illinois Music Education Association. The event took place on EIU campus. Three students from AGS sang in the combined 5th and 6th grade choir. They learned 5 songs which they performed at a concert later that same day. Six students in 3rd-5th grade took classes on playing Boomwhackers, playing Xylophones, and Folk Dancing. They showcased what they had learned at a concert later that day. After the trip the students shared pictures, stories, and music with their peers during music class.

Students in Mrs. Schafer's FACS classes modeled their handmade aprons and pillows, projects from our sewing unit. They will have the opportunity to wear their aprons during our cooking unit next quarter. Way to go Indians! You did a great job.

AGS recently held our annual Scholastic Book Fair from February 23-27th. Students kicked off the week by "traveling' to a different classroom to listen to a story about dragons (fair theme this year). Once finished, the teacher spun a name wheel and the winner took the book home. On Tuesday and Thursday, students were able to shop with their Grandparents or special Grandperson. On Wednesday night, students were able to shop with their family on Parent Night. We would like to send a huge thank you to the community for their continued support for our book fair each year!

Thank you to everyone who supported the AGS choir Singing Valentines! We saw many happy faces as we traveled room to room to deliver a song and a treat to students/staff. The choir also had a wonderful experience with the residents at the Lutheran Care Center.

Altamont Grade School will be participating with the Illinois Masonic Lodge and their Bikes for Books Program. This program helps to promote academic success through a positive reading program in public grade schools. Each time a student reads a book, their name will go into a drawing towards winning a bike and a helmet. If your child reads a book at home, send a note or message to their teacher, and we will get a ticket filled out. The drawing for the bike will be in May. Thank you for your participation!
