🎓 ACHS College Fair! 🎓
We were excited to welcome thirteen colleges, universities, and military representatives to Altamont Community High School on Wednesday afternoon!
All students had the opportunity to explore their options, ask questions, and learn more about opportunities after high school. We were also excited to give away prizes to eight of our juniors and seniors! 🎉
A huge THANK YOU to all of the representatives who attended and to everyone who generously donated prizes for our giveaways. Your support helps our students explore the possibilities for their futures!

Yesterday, ACHS FCA Huddle sponsored "See You at the Pole 2026", International Day of student prayer. Students and staff gathered around the flag pole at 7:30 am to pray for our school, community, country and world. We were so glad to see such a great turn out for this event.

During Mrs. Cameron's Library Lab, 4th graders listened to the story The Leaf Thief. Then they designed, created, & tested leaf blowers to complete the challenge of getting the leaves on the targets and then into the pumpkin containers. Happy Fall!
Teen Kennedi brought a little kindness and a whole lot of fun to AGS 2nd graders in Miss Mendenhall's classroom! 👑💗
She read Princesses Wear Pants, helped the students decorate their very own crowns and introduced her new “Kindness Crown Jar,” challenging the kiddos each week to complete a different act of kindness. She even brought along some Fruit Smiles as a sweet reminder to keep smiling! 😊👑
Wildcat Baseball
Jeff Rogers, from the Illinois Press Federation, came to the ACHS Photojournalism class to talk about the journalism profession and present a $1,500 grant to the class to help purchase equipment.
ACHS would like to thank the Illinois Press Federation and the Illinois Farm Bureau for their support of local school journalism programs through a yearly grant.

Today, Mrs. Schafer's B1 Foods class had a turn at showing off their sidewalk chalk skills with another food pun Fun Friday activity. I love how hard they worked to send their classmates off with a smile this weekend. Like Joe said, Cheesy puns mac me happy!

The CEO program partners with area schools to give students a unique, hands-on opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship, leadership, business, and the realities of running a business. This program provides experiences and connections that go far beyond the traditional classroom.

St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital and the Andrew Gobczynski Big Heart Foundation are offering a FREE EKG & Blood Pressure Screening for student-athletes on Saturday, October 17th.
This quick, painless test screens for undiagnosed heart conditions that could cause issues during high-intensity sports. Readings will be reviewed by a pediatric cardiologist from SIU.
📋 Who is Eligible?
High school sophomores
Juniors & seniors who have not previously participated
🚨 Action Required to Participate
Submit Paperwork by Thursday, Oct 8: Turn in your fully completed and signed paperwork packet to the Athletic Director.
