Last week was National FCCLA Week. Chapters in 50 states, Washington DC, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa, 225,000 members in over 7,000 chapters held events commemorating this special week. The chapter at ACHS had events everyday. Monday was PJ DAY and Section Meeting in Charleston, where Keely and Sophia competed in proficiency events. The other members attended workshops and networked with other FCCLA members. Tuesday was FCCLA GEAR day. Wednesday, FCCLA Officers and Mrs. Schafer prepared a teacher appreciation breakfast for faculty and staff. Thursday members made Chocolate Covered Strawberries for Valentine's Day. We ended this fantastic week with a Spirit Day, inviting the whole school to join us in wearing Orange and Black!

📣 Career Fair Presenters Needed!
Altamont Community High School is seeking professionals and organizations to present at our Career Fair on Thursday, March 5, from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM in the Altamont Community High School gymnasium.
This is a great opportunity to share your career experiences and help students explore future opportunities.

Altamont students participated in the first ever Laker Academic Invitational. This competition tested the team over seven STEM related subjects. Altamont received 3rd place overall in their division and Larson Burns tied for 1st place in English.

Altamont Grade School will be participating with the Illinois Masonic Lodge and their Bikes for Books Program. This program helps to promote academic success through a positive reading program in public grade schools. Each time a student reads a book, their name will go into a drawing towards winning a bike and a helmet. If your child reads a book at home, send a note or message to their teacher, and we will get a ticket filled out. The drawing for the bike will be in May. Thank you for your participation!

👏 Huge shoutout to some incredible community partners! 👏
Altamont Community High School would like to give a huge THANK YOU to Kyle Willenborg (Willenborg's Detailing & Refinishing), Ellie Hanfland (The Equity), Tiffany Wasson (The Giving Plate), and Layna Bond (American Family Insurance) for taking time out of their busy schedules to speak with our Student Leadership Team and additional students who joined us for an outstanding Business Panel event.
We also want to give a special shoutout to Katie Koester from the Effingham County Chamber for helping coordinate this event and making it all come together seamlessly.
The panel featured an engaging question-and-answer session where students had the opportunity to hear firsthand from these local business owners about their successes, failures, lessons learned, advice they wish they had known as students, and what they would do differently as leaders.
Our students were fantastic—asking thoughtful, insightful questions—and our business panelists were absolutely phenomenal. This was truly a valuable experience and a great example of how community partnerships make a difference for our students.
Thank you all for investing in our kids and helping prepare them for the future! 🧡🖤

Students in Mrs. Schafer's Food classes were busy for two days preparing, shaping and cooking yeast bread recipes to finish up our bread unit. Delicious smells were wafting through the hallways of ACHS all day Friday, as students made soft pretzels, cinnamon rolls, glazed donuts and pizza from scratch. 10 students came in at 7:15 am Friday morning, just to punch down and shape their dough so it would be ready for baking and frying in class. Their hard work clearly paid off!

📈 CEO at Altamont Community High School! 📈
Altamont Community High School was excited to welcome CEO facilitators and students who came to share information about their upcoming class business, Inside the Vision: CEO Edition, and to highlight the opportunities within the CEO Program.
They first spoke with ACHS student leaders in grades 9–12, giving an overview of the upcoming event on February 4th, what students can expect, and extended an invitation to our students to attend. Then, they met with ACHS students in grades 9–11 to explain the CEO Program, including how it provides real-world business experience, leadership development, and hands-on learning opportunities.
This was a great opportunity for our students to learn more about entrepreneurship, innovation, and future career pathways. Thank you to our guests for inspiring the next generation of leaders! 👏✨
🧡🖤 Go Indians! 🖤🧡

Wear Your Purple!
