As part of an overarching national trend, Altamont was subject to a “swatting” hoax regarding a false report on social media of a lockdown today.
The safety and security of our students is our top priority, so we worked diligently with law enforcement to investigate this report. However, upon investigation, it was deemed a false report, and likely part of a bigger national trend that has been spread via social media.
As always, Altamont takes all matters involving student safety seriously and will remain diligent in maintaining a secure and welcoming educational environment for our students. Fortunately, today’s matter was determined to be false, and we are carrying on business as usual today.
To close, I’d also like to take a moment to highlight the importance of encouraging your child to let an adult know if they see or hear anything to say something. Being proactive about these matters is one of the most effective ways we can keep our school safe.

It's apple week in 1st grade! Mrs. Cameron's class read the book Applesauce Day and enjoyed applesauce pouches! Yummy!
Mrs. Marxman's fourth grade class experimented with sugar cubes this week in science to answer the question. Will mountains last forever? Students' answers "No, mountains won't last forever!"
Altamont Lady Indians fought hard in the championship game of our home varsity tournament but came up just short. We went 6-0 in sets played during pool play and made it to the championship game in bracket play. Congrats to the Lady Indians on their second place finish!
Mrs. Barnick’s fourth graders are doing a nutrition program called “Serving Up My Plate” this year. Today they learned what goes in each food group.
Mrs. Miller's class finished off a busy week of learning and playing by taking their shoes off while in the classroom!
Mrs. Wendling’s Kindergarten class is doing a great job learning their letters and sounds with ABC Boot Camp. They learn a new letter each day for the first 26 days of school. Students make hats and practice working with letters at centers. 🖍️😊
Altamont JH softball team supported their fellow NTC family when playing at Stew-Stras tonight! Continued prayers for these communities! 💙💚🧡🖤
