ACHS held its Prom on April 12. The theme was "House of Cards". Students enjoyed a meal catered by Joe's Pizza and Pasta with dessert of cake pops by Carolyn Myers and various cookies. The Prom court consisted of the following seniors: Abby Weishaar, Charlie Goeckner, Sophia Pearcy, Alex Walter, Grace Lemke, and Tyler Ruffner. The retiring queen was Brianna Grunloh and the retiring king was Justin Magelitz. Abby Weishaar and Charlie Goeckner were crowned the 2025 queen and king!
We have some EGGciting news! 1st grade has been learning about chickens and incubated chicken eggs. This week they got to see 15 baby chicks hatch! Thank you to the Kreke family for donating the eggs and taking the chicks back to the farm.

The softball game at South Central scheduled on Saturday, April 12th at 9am has been cancelled. Field conditions have limited their ability to host the full tournament. Good luck to the other teams competing!
ACHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle met this week to make lasagna for a local family to show our love and support during a difficult time. Huddle members learn to be the hands and feet of Christ by serving others. FCA meets every Thursday in Mrs. Schafer's room to grow our faith, fellowship and serve our school and community.
Today was an exciting, fun day in 4th grade! All the 4th grade classes ate lunch at the park, and then went to watch Shrek, Jr. The Musical at the Little Theatre on the Square in Sullivan. Students and teachers all enjoyed the show!
This month, Mrs. Schafer's Food Classes participated in our annual Cupcake Wars. Each class submitted ideas and then voted on a theme. A2 had the theme "Seasons". The Cupcake Cartel won the war with their cozy Fall Fire cupcake. It was an Apple pie cupcake with cinnamon buttercream. B4 chose the theme "Marvel". The Baking Babes won the war with their Ironman cupcake. It was a lemon raspberry cupcake with vanilla buttercream icing and a lemon marshmallow fondant decoration. All the Foods students did an amazing job!

April 2nd is Autism Awareness Day, so students and staff wore blue, red, and tye dye to raise awareness and show acceptance and inclusion.
The awesome lunch ladies joined in and made blue donuts for breakfast!

The 2025 Envirothon Team headed over to Ballard Nature Center on Tuesday April 1 for the annual Envirothon competition. It was a chilly day for outdoor activities but the team had fun learning about forestry, aquatic life, wildlife and soils. The team is looking forward to next year's competition!

Teachers at ACHS are ready for baseball season! Teachers supported their favorite MLB team for March's Fun Theme Friday!
Congratulations to Mrs. Schafer for winning our drawing for a $10 gift card to a local business, sponsored by Dr. Huey.
Students in Mrs. Schafer's Parenting class made Sloppy Joe Buggies as a nutritious meal activity. We discussed how this activity works support the child's whole development through physical, social, emotional and intellectual means. Children would learn about good nutrition and shapes and colors. This would help them physically by using small motor skills and providing essential nutrients. Socially, they would learn to share the ingredients and equipment and emotionally, by feeling good about their skills and abilities. We are planning even more hands on activities for children in this last quarter of the 2024-2025 school year.
On Friday March 21st, students from AGS performed their solos, duets, and a trio at the Lutheran Care Center. All of the students are participants in the 2025 IESA Solo & Ensemble Contest.
Altamont High School's Prom will take place on April 12 at the Carriage House from 6:30-- 10:00.
Candidates are Charlie Goeckner, Alex Walker, Tyler Ruffner, Abby Weishaar, Sophia Pearcy and Grace Lemke.
Students in Mr. Walden's Veterinary Science class have been learning about animal and wound care by practicing proper bandage wrapping techniques and suturing! This class prepares students for a career or college education in veterinary medicine and gives all students basic knowledge of animal care and welfare.
