Mr. Walden, Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor

“Why did you become a teacher and was it always your plan to be a teacher?”

  • No, it was not my original plan when I started college. I originally majored in dairy science, but then decided that I did not want to pursue that path. I had always thought about being a teacher, and I really enjoyed my ag classes in high school, so that is how I ended up deciding to choose to be an ag teacher.

“If you went back to school, would you have done something differently or would you have done it the same way?”

  • If I went back to school, I would probably go into vet school. At the time, I did not want to go for 8 years of schooling to be a doctor, but looking back now I think that would be fun.

“What is one thing on your bucket list?”

  • Travel to Europe, specifically to see history, art, and architecture, such as the castles and historic buildings.

“What advice would you give to your students?”

  • Always try your best and put in the effort now. As a high school student right now, it is one of the easiest times in your life. If you put in the effort and hard work now, everything will be easier in the future.

“What would you say to others to encourage them to join this career?”

  • Find lots of learning opportunities, more than just book work. Find places to learn hands-on skills like internships in the summers. Also, try not to worry about being a perfect teacher in your first few years. The practice comes as you get more experience.

“What are a couple of things that you try to bring with you to school everyday?”

  • I bring my water. I try to make sure I have my keys because I forget them all the time. Also, I usually try to bring some caffeine to get me through the day.

“What is your favorite TV show?”

  • My favorite TV show would probably have to be Wednesday.
